Gippsland Rail Trail (Dec 2022)

A 60k bike journey from the south Gippsland town of Meeniyan-Stony Creek-Buffalo-Fish Creek-Foster-Toora-Welshpool and finishing up at Port Welshpool

• Meeniyan - Starting point

• Buffalo - 1st stop - this is a picture of the old Buffalo general store

• There is a resting station only at this stop

• Foster - 3rd stop (by passed Fish Creek)

• There is a resting station and shops which are 2ks up the road

• Toora - 4th stop

• There is a resting station and a local pub up the road

• Welshpool - 5th stop

• Good resting station with a couple of shops for refreshments

• Port Welshpool - final stop

• A very long pier and a local pub (Pier Port Hotel) to have a well earned beer and some pub food that are packed with salt!

Overall - this trail was a great experience and I would most definitely do this again. The track was hard gravel which meant I could use my road bike with 28" tires and not hire a mountain bike.

The track was very quite in terms of traffic (there were only 4 other riders that I saw in the 5hr ride)
